Adult Coloring Books

What are you doing with the Adult Coloring Pages after you have finished coloring them?

Let's think about this for a minute. You go out and purchase a coloring book, printed on thin paper, create beautiful artwork and then??? What?? It stays in the book???

I would like to suggest a different approach. First, let's start with good quality card stock.  Stamp it with lovely pictures, then place them on a base to display in your home, mail them to friends as cards or place them in an album with photos of your family.

Now that you have the idea, allow me to give you some really easy instruction on how to make your coloring a one of a kind work of art. As previously stated, you need to start with good quality card stock. Stampin Up offers a variety of colors which will allow you to create on different color backgrounds. Of course the Whisper White and Very Vanilla are the most popular, but don't forget other colors. When you are planning to color flowers, use colors like Pool Party, Pink Pirouette, and Sahara Sands to add more color in your background. For nature scenes, try Smoke Slate, Crumb Cake or Mint macroon. Today's coloring books don't offer these great coloring palettes.

As for what to stamp for you to color? Anything. In the ones I have posted below, I used several different stamp set. Some stamp sets were mixed with others sets. It does not matter if you create a picture or if you just use the same stamp over and over. The page will come to life when you add your color. And it is your own design.

Speaking of adding color! Let's think a minute about what kind of markers or coloring pencils you are planning to use.

Rule #1 Water and Oil don't mix....... Alcohol/Solvent and Water do not mix either.  With that in mind; if you are planning to use water color markers or coloring pencils, be sure to stamp in an solvent based ink, like Staz On. If you would rather use alcohol markers, use Memento ink. This way you never need to worry about your ink and markers bleeding on your page. ***Want a special trick?  Use your Wink of Stella like an aqua brush with your Stampin Up ink refills. NOW you are water coloring and adding glitter.***

Rule #2  If you are going to use water color with a very wet page; get Stampin Ups water color paper instead of using card stock. It has been my experience that if you are only using a small amount of water to blend, Stampin Ups card stock is great. If you feel the area is getting too wet, just move to a different area giving it time to dry.

Rule #3 When using markers, use a light touch on the page. I love Stampin Up markers. The brush tip because allow me to add only the amount of color I want on the page. You will feel like you are not even touching the page. Then, when I use the blending marker it just moves the color around, making blending easy.

Now enjoy coloring pages no one else has, because they are unique to you. You created them from start to finish.
