Santa's Sleigh Coasters with SU

Now it might surprise you to learn that Christmas is only 20 Fridays away. And I am working on a craft fair for Christmas!!!! This will be our first craft fair, so I am a little nerves.

This was a ceramic tile purchased from Home Depot or Lowes Home Improvements. When these were purchased there was a layer of glue that needed to be removed. It was easily removed with my finger nail. Then I cleaned the tile with alcohol, allow it to dry before going any further. I used the Santa's Sleigh stamp set and framelits. Use alcohol ink or emboss all stamping. Water based inks will bleed and smear. The sleigh was first cut out and the bottom was embossed using the gold embossing powder. An overlay was cut with the red foil, and glitter glue was used on the tree and reindeer's nose.

When I was ready to place these images on the ceramic tile, I first covered the tile with a thin layer of glossy Mod Podge. Allow it to dry completely about 30 minutes, a second and third layer was applied. It is important that each layer dry completely before another layer is applied.

Final step is to spray a thin coat of Acrylic over the top. Some important things to know about spraying Acrylic. It to be sprayed outside, or in a room with good ventilation. I like Kryon, it goes on smooth and is water resistant. After the first coat has completely dried, normally overnight, apply a second coat.

These coasters are fun and easy to make. Here are some other designs using Eastern Palace stamp set and framelits.
