Hidden Hinge for Mini Albums

Recently, I post an album called Birthday Memories and promised to post how to do the hidden hinges. This technique is an awesome way to bind your book and add several pages. The Birthday Memories has 24 pages. Not all of them were shown in the previous post.

Let's get started.

Hidden Hinge Binding (Basic Book)
This is an easy way to make a hidden hinge for your mini albums.
You will need 1 1/4 inches for each page you want in your book, plus you will need 1 1/2 in on each side.

Example: 5 page book you will need:
1 1/4" x 4" = 6 1/4 inches long

+1 1/2"x2"=3incheslong

9 1/4 x 8 1/4 Starting Paper size.

On your 9 1/4 length score at 1 1/2, 1 3/4, 2 1/4, 2 3/4,
3, 3 1/2, 4, 4 1/4, 4 3/4, 5 1/4, 5 1/2, 6, 6 1/2, 6 3/4, 7 1/4, 7 3/4, 8, 8 1/4

Note the marked score lines.

Next fold each score with the 1/2" matching and the 1/4" is the open space between each 1/2" section. I recommend using Tear and Tape on one side of the 1/2" section and adhere firmly using your bone folder to secure a firm fit.

Each standing section will have a page adhered to it. Remember this when you are decorating your pages. Some parts of some pages will be hidden behind the hinge.

With your bone folder, press each hinge in both directions. This way they will move freely when turning pages.

Now we are going to place tear and tape side by side to the back side of your sheet. This will give you a firm seal to the cover. We do not want our hinges to come loose.

This is the same hidden hinge, I used on the Birthday Memories Mini Album. Keep watching! You will see other albums made with this hinge.
